KULAPATHI K. M. MUNSHI (Bhavan’s Guiding Spirit)
“We, the Bhavan’s family, whether it is the smaller one or the larger one, must make every effort in restoring an awareness of these values – Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram – Truth, Love and Beauty – in personnel and collective life.”
Dr. Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi was a lawyer by profession and a renowned writer and educationalist and social reformer.
Kulapathi K M Munshi founded Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1938 with the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Bhavan’s was established around the time when freedom was around the corner , people were concerned about the New India that would emerge soon. Munshiji not only dreamt of a resurgent India, he also felt the need to work towards it. This resulted in the founding of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
The Bhavan’s has its roots firmly embedded in the Indian soil but its spreading branches reachout to encompass the best of the modern world in the fields of science, technology, economics and management. The Bhavans is a unique institution where Sanskrit classes are conducted side by side with other disciplines.
